The Muskegon Film Festival in conjunction with the Muskegon Community College Film Club are pleased to present the Friday Film Fest featuring Michigan made films and discussions with award-winning Michigan film makers: A.E. Griffin, Shane Hagedorn, Michael McCallum and Jonathan Worful. The Friday Film Fest will also feature a special screening of the locally made webisodes “Hot Rod Hearts”. “Fairview St.” “An Apology to the Dead” a block of shorts by Unsafe Film Office including the award winning short “Playback” and the West Michigan premiere of the latest Rebel Pictures Feature “Handlebar” as well as the made in Muskegon “Hot Rod Hearts”. Join us Saturday, May 15, 2010 from 10am to 4pm for a fun-filled day of free activities and events for kids of all ages. This is a No-Cost Fun Day for families and youth! We've got a variety of music and performing arts, a health fair to browse, sports activities, exhibits with free goodies, and a food and beverage court sponsored by local restaurants. Mayfest brings together our community's civic, ethnic, social, and service organizations in a day-long spring festival of activity and cultural enrichment. Its purpose is to invite community residents to enjoy informal family style entertainment and active participation in the unique community college setting. May 21, 2010 - May 23, 2010 Arts & Craft Fair in the Park
This three day fair will be held in conjunction with the Pow Wow in Hackley Park, downtown Muskegon. Artists and crafters from all around the state will be showing their works in wood crafting, silver. candle making, stained glass, baby clothes, dog treats, scrapbooking, handmade soaps, Indian crafts, and more. Food vendors, face painting and Papa & Mama Clown add to the festivities. The Lions Club will be offering a Pancake Breakfast May 21-22. Rock the Coast is a two-day event full of Christian music, as many rides as you can stand, and tons of friends! This two day event is held in Hackley Park, downtown Muskegon. Grand Entry, Saturday at 1:00 p.m. and 6:00 p.m., and Sunday at 12 Noon. The week of Dragonfest kicks off with a free movie, “Dragons, A Fantasy Made Real.” The movie is sponsored by Harbor Light Credit Union, and is produced by the Discovery Channel and Narrated by Patrick Stewart. The show is free, and will run Monday, June 14 at 7:00 p.m. at the Howmet Playhouse. Also beginning Monday, the Nuveen Center will host a week of hands-on art classes: Dragon Puppet Making, Damsel and Knight Hat Making, 3D Dragons, and Dragon drawing. On Thursday, June 17 at 1:00 p.m., the Book Nook & Java Shop in Montague will host Dragon story hour. On Thursday, Friday, and Saturday evenings, June 17 – 19, Nuveen’s Youth Theatre group will present a collage of dragon themed plays, music, and dance at the Howmet Playhouse. The pre-show fun begins at 7 p.m., with outdoor music by local musicians and drawing by professional cartoon artist Scott Rosema.
