Rock the Coast is a two-day event full of Christian music, as many rides as you can stand, and tons of friends! Held each year at Michigan's Adventure Amusement Park, you'll ride all day and rock out for two days straight. This year's performers include Hawk Nelson, Superchick, John Reuben, and Bread of Stone.    Jun 05, 2010 3rd Annual Run for Wings, 5K Run/Walk
The 3rd Annual "Run for Wings" 5K event is one of the flattest and fastest courses in West Michigan. The first 100 registrants will receive a technical T-shirt. As a registered runner/walker you will also receive a free pancake breakfast. In addition to the 5K festivities, the annual Wings of Mercy pancake breakfast has become quite an event and has been a tradition now for a number of years including plane rides, helicopter rides, antique cars, and other family events. All proceeds (including 100% of your registration fee) will be going to the local West Michigan chapter of Wings of Mercy. Wings of Mercy is a non-profit volunteer pilot organization. It is dedicated to providing access to free, private airplane transportation for medical patients with low/limited disposable income.    Jun 05, 2010 Summer Luge Opens at Muskegon State Park
The Department of Natural Resources and Environment, the Muskegon Sports Council, Kellogg Foundation's Access to Recreation, the United States Luge Association and Muskegon State Park are pleased to announce the grand opening of the first universally accessible wheeled summer luge in North America. Muskegon State Park will be hosting a grand opening ceremony on Saturday, June 5, at 11 a.m. at the Muskegon Sports Complex, located within Muskegon State Park. A ribbon cutting ceremony and inaugural runs will take place at noon, featuring local and state dignitaries. The track will then be open to the general public from 4 to 8 p.m. The track will have regular operating hours throughout the summer; however, hours are subject to change due to weather or other conditions. The Chronicle Seaway Run is one of Michigan's most scenic and most popular runs. Plotted along the shores of Lake Michigan and Muskegon Lake, this morning run is a favorite of runners from across Michigan and surrounding states. Great Thursday night race starting and ending at the North Muskegon Athletic Complex. The 5K Walk starts at 6:30 p.m. and follows the 5K run course. All walkers will be scored and overall awards will be presented the the first male and female finisher. Due to the parade, participants may be required to finish the course on the sidewalk after 7:15 p.m. Awards are given to the overall male and female winners and overall Masters male and female winners and the top 3 in each age group.    Sep 04, 2010 Run For Sight 5th Annual 5K Run and 5K Walk
Run For Sight is a great community event - A 5K run/walk in which the community walks for sight. Run For Sight is a run to benefit the Association for the Blind and Visually Impaired. 100% of the proceeds are donated to ABVI. The 5th Annual Run For Sight will take place Saturday, September 4th, and will kick off the Breakwater Festival at Pere Marquette Park. The 5K Run is a competitive event with medals being awarded for top three winners in 14 age categories. The 5K Walk is dog friendly - dogs must be on leashes. Does the Mackinac Bridge Labor Day Walk sound like a good idea yet it’s too far away for you to participate? The City of Muskegon will be hosting the Third Annual Labor Day Community Walk to help increase the number of active people this Labor Day weekend. The walk will begin at Fisherman’s Landing. Walkers are asked to register at the pavilion at 8:30 a.m. with the walk following at 9:00 a.m. We will follow the Lakeshore Trail to the nature preserve in North Muskegon. Participants will circle around and complete their walk at Fisherman’s Landing for a total of 4.2 miles. Granola bars, water, and a raffle will be available to walkers! Muskegon's Biggest Car & Bike Show! Located at Mercy Health Partners - The Lakes just off US 31 on Harvey St. between Pontaluna Road and Sternberg Road. All proceeds will benefit the Johnson Family Center for Cancer Care.    Sep 18, 2010 Duane Buckner Bowling Benefit
Muskegon bowlers who want to enjoy an afternoon of tournament excitement and also show their support for America's veterans now have an event that combines both. This benefit honors the longtime leader of Muskegon's veterans council. The event will be held at Bob Hi Lanes, 2930 S. Getty Street. Teams can sign up for one of two shifts, 11:30 a.m. or 3:30 p.m. Cost is $25 per two-person teams. Proceeds from the tournament will be split between VFW Operation Uplink which provides free phone service to troops overseas, and the USS LST-393, a museum dedicated to Muskegon's veterans.
