Mar 04, 2010 - Mar 07, 2010 Muskegon Civic Theatre Presents "Witness for the Prosecution"
Only the grand dame of mystery, Agatha Christie, could have conceived of this suspenseful courtroom thriller and topped it off with a triple-flip ending. Over the strenuous objections of his private nurse, Miss Plimsoll, Sir Wilfred Robarts, a master barrister in ill health, takes on the case of Leonard Vole, a young man accused of murdering a wealthy old woman. The testimony of his wife, Christine, should ensure his acquittal, but she is called, instead, as a witness for the prosecution. For a fee, a mysterious woman provides Sir Wilfred with some damning evidence and testimony against Christine, and the plot twists and turns keep coming until the dramatic climax when Leonard and Christine confront each other in the courtroom. Tickets range from $14 - $16 and are available at the Frauenthal Box Office Monday - Friday 11 AM - 5 PM and Startickets 800-585-3737. Evening showtimes 7:30 PM Sunday Matinees 3 PM. www.frauenthal.org

Apr 29, 2010 - May 02, 2010 The Sound of Music
When a postulant, Maria, proves to be too high-spirited for the religious life, she is dispatched to serve as governess for the seven children of a widowed naval Captain, George Von Trapp. Her rapport with the children and her generous spirit capture the heart of the stern Captain, and they marry. Upon returning from their honeymoon, the newlyweds find that the Nazis have taken over Austria and now demand that the Captain report immediately for service in the German Navy. The family’s narrow escape over the mountains into Switzerland on the eve of World War II provides the inspirational finale. This final collaboration between Rodgers & Hammerstein was destined to become America’s most beloved musical, and many songs from the show have become standards including Edelweiss, My Favorite Things, Do-Re-Mi, Climb Ev’ry Mountain, and the title song. The concert is at the Frauenthal Center for the Performing Arts (corner of Third and Western in Downtown Muskegon). Show times for Thursday, Friday and Saturday shows are 7:30 p.m.; Sunday 3:00 p.m..Tickets range from $14 - $16 and are available at the Frauenthal Box Office Monday - Friday 11 a.m. - 6 p.m. and through Startickets 800-585-3737. www.frauenthal.org

Oct 13, 2010 - Oct 17, 2010 Overbrook Theater: Rosencrantz & Guildenstern Are Dead
Before winning an Oscar as a writer of Shakespeare in Love, Tom Stoppard delivered another ingenious comic retelling involving the Bard of Stratford-upon-Avon. In 1967 he dove into the world's most famous play, Hamlet, and retold it from the point of view of two bumbling support players. The entire world is a stage, and Rosencrantz and Guildenstern play their part, finding themselves unwitting pawns in history's greatest tragedy. Performance times are 7:30 p.m. on Wednesday through Saturday and 3:00 p.m. on Sunday. The Overbrook Theater is located at Muskegon Community College, 221 S. Quarterline Road.
